About Me

Hi All!

Part 3

And, again, another update.

Another update because my life, as in everyone's life, a lot of events happen. Some good, some bad, some small, some life changing.

Since my last update, cancer has yet again taouched my life and as I sit here someone close to me is fighting. Since my last update, my daughter's Juvenile Arthritis has come back with quite a vengeance. Since my last update, it feels like my life is upside down.

What keeps me knowing that I will make it through is my kids, my good friends, my dad, the simple things in life:) Camping on the weekends and seeing my kids laugh and play.

My business has suffered through this time and I apologize to those affected by this. I am only one person and sometimes I must choose my family and my personal life over my business - I am sure you would all choose the same and I hope you do. Your families and yourselves are important! If you do not take care of yourselves and those close to you - there will be no one to take care of the bigger picture later.

And that is what I am doing now! I am back and ready to get down to the nitty gritty of getting this bad boy of a business back on track!

Watch out world, Here I Come!

Part 2

Alrighty, an update to the About Me page:

When I started my business, I had these grandiose ideas of what I could do and how soon I could make it happen. At the time, I was also working on reconciling with my significant other, my Father-in-Law was ill (soon to be diagnosed with terminal cancer) and I was just served with a diagnosis of Bipolar disorder. Yup, quite the endeavor to undertake when my personal life was in such chaos. (Maybe that is partly why I threw myself into it so feverishly and thought I could conquer the business world so easily and quickly?)

I did manage to stay somewhat sane (well, according to me) during this time frame and get the business up and crawling. I say crawling in the nicest way, but statistics show that 50% of businesses fail in their first year and another 50% of those that survive that will fail by the end of 5 years. I am just around my 2.5 year mark now and, although I have definitely made some mistakes, some good decisions and some bad decisions - I am still here. I call that a small victory and I will celebrate even the smallest acheivement I make.

I do not hold a degree, I do not claim to be uber-smart, nor do I claim to fly by the seat of my pants - but I do claim that if a mind is set to something, it can and will acheive it. I have set my mind to making this business work - here's to the next 2.5 years:)

Part 1

So, if you're reading this, you're probably a little curious about who I am and how Brody Lovelle came to be!

Well, first things first. I am the mom of two adorable children. When the time came to return to work after my first child, I was suprisingly sad. I had always said I would be a "working" mom - until I had to be one. I knew there had to be a better way. Just like a lot of Mom's out there, I wanted to balance being home with my child and bringing in a second income. Unfortunately, it was not an option at that time for me to just stay home.

When I found myself pregnant again, I did a lot of searching for a way to stay home. I knew daycare costs were not something I wanted to deal with. I also knew that my family could not survive on one income. I had wanted to open a boutique for a few years but just didn't think I could do it. As my maternity leave was coming to an end, I finally decided that you never know unless you try and Brody Lovelle came into being!

Now that you know who I am, I can let you know what Brody Lovelle is all about.

The goal is to carry great Canadian products! I have been lucky to connect with companies that are based in Canada and their products designed in Canada.

I also want to eventually open a retail space. I am in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. If you know our beautiful city at all, you know that all of the great Infant and Children's Boutiques are on the south side or in the surrounding communities. I want to fill that niche in the Northwest area of Edmonton!

That's pretty much the core of who I am and what Brody Lovelle is all about.

Thanks for being curious!
